Stylish Knits & Prints is a small shop in Smithtown, New York.
Every hat, headwrap, scarf and bag here is knit by hand, one at a time, by experienced grandmas who have mastered the art of knitting over many years. There is no factory and no production line. When a color sells out, it sells out, and the next batch might be slightly different. That is the nature of handmade.
My mother, Kusum — the grandma behind most of what you see here. She has been knitting for decades, and the pieces in this shop come off her needles the same way they always have: slowly, carefully, one at a time.
We knit with soft acrylic yarn on purpose. It holds its shape through a long winter, it does not itch, and it goes in the washing machine. Wool is lovely, but it asks a lot of you. Our pieces are made to be worn on the school run, the commute and the dog walk, then washed and worn again.
Alongside the knitwear we carry a small, curated selection of lightweight printed scarves, shawl jackets and cotton blouses. These are sourced in limited quantities, often just one or two of each print, for customers who want something nobody else will be wearing.
Orders are packed by hand and ship from New York, usually within one to three business days. If you are looking for a specific color, a custom size, or a matching set for a gift, send us a note. Made-to-order is one of the advantages of a shop this size.
